Comparison of Posterior Stabilized and Cruciate Ligament Retaining Technique: Enrolled surgery patients will be randomly assigned to receive one of two surgical techniques: 1) total knee replacement while keeping the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) or 2) total knee replacement with removal and substitution of the PCL. Published data indicate that both techniques offer the same long-term results/benefits. However, deficiencies of previous studies include: different operational procedures, different brands of implants (prostheses), inconsistent patient follow-up. The goal of this study is to use the same prosthesis, standard procedures, and maintain annual follow-up with each patient for up to 5 years. Genesis I Modular Inset Revisions: This is a retrospective study of nearly 600 Genesis I TKR performed by Dr. Snyder. The hypothesis is that with early intervention, based on yearly follow-up for polyethelene wear, the chance of a full revision is minimized. Thromboprophylaxis with Low Molecular Weight Heparin vs. Warfarin in Patients undergoing Primary Total Knee Replacement: Enrolled surgery patients will be randomized to receive either heparin or warfarin (Coumadin) as anticoagulant therapy following surgery. Study drug will be administered beginning the evening of surgery. The study is designed to pro-actively track and monitor patients for signs/symptoms of blood clots (a.k.a. DVTs). Precautionary steps include daily evaluation of blood chemistry and a venogram within 2 weeks post-operatively. The venogram is a test that uses injectable dyes and x-ray beams to view the veins in the operative leg. The hypothesis is that heparin is as safe and effective in the prevention of blood clots in patients undergoing total knee replacement surgery. Oxidized Zirconium (OxZi) in TKA (Total Knee Arthroplasty): This is a prospective study designed to determine how the use of a new material(OxZi) for implant used in part of the artificial knee device compares with metal material that has been in use for the past 25 years.
