The Wellington Foundation

The Robert S. Heidt Sr. – Wellington Foundation was founded in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The Foundation provides an opportunity to promote research and education for the physicians employed by Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine (WOSM).

The goal of the Foundation is to foster quality patient care through advancement of knowledge and research. The Foundation reflects commitment to orthopaedics through two specific specialties: Adult Reconstructive Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Each specialty is active in the clinical research arena through industry-sponsored trials and Foundation supported efforts. Representatives from both specialties have had the opportunity to educate the local community as well as their peers throughout the country.

The Foundation employs two full-time Research and Education Coordinators and two fully licensed Medical Fellows. These operational costs account for approximately 71% of the annual budget. The remainder of the Foundation supports research activities and education: specialty conferences, journal subscriptions, and teaching fees. Less than 1% of annual funds are spent on equipment and supplies.

A financial contribution to the Robert S. Heidt, Sr. – Wellington Foundation will allow the Foundation to compliment the medical training of its staff thus enhancing patient care, offer advanced treatment through clinical trials, create educational materials for patients, and provide wellness education.
